More about 'Immanuel with our boys'

This prayer album was first named ‘Men First’ to say that the men we honour and respect don’t have to be anything primarily but simply be men. However, as we began to work on it and look at the date, I realised something more important; we can entrust our men to Immanuel. We can trust Immanuel to be with our boys even if they are now someone’s grandfather.

March 6th 2019, I lost my father in a ghastly car accident but before death came depression that I could not name or help as his daughter. Yet, as I work on this album, I remember Immanuel being by me on the 7th of March as I made sense of the news I got the night before.

What if nothing was enough to take our boys away from Immanuel? God says so but do our men know so? Do they know they would be loved, covered, accepted, held and prayed for even if they were no one’s father or grandfather?

As I prayed for this album, I had no nudge to pray for their legacy and children. Even in love, I prayed that the women in their lives will cover them and nothing else. If you are a man who would love to be swaddled in an awareness that you loved and covered, this is definitely for you. You are a man first and Immanuel is always with you.
